The Fairfax County Park Authority has started the public master planning process for Patriot Park North at Willow Springs is now underway and the public is encouraged to participate. It is located at the corner of Braddock and Willow Springs School Roads.
The draft conceptual development plan (CDP) is at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/plandev/patriot-park-north.htm. FCPA will hold a public comment meeting on July 14, 2015, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Willow Springs Elementary School located at 5400 Willow Springs School Road, Fairfax, Va.
You can also comment at email@example.com now and for 30 days after July 14. FCPA says, "Refinements to the final plan will be made, if necessary, based on public input and presented to the Park Authority Board to consider approval in the fall of 2015."
This statement from FCPA suggests the direction they are headed: "This park is considered to be a potential location for a diamond field complex due to several constraints at nearby parks where these facilities were initially planned. The Draft CDP shows a wheel-shaped cluster of three 90’ diamonds around a concession stand/press box/restroom building, two 60’ diamond fields, picnic shelter, playground and outdoor fitness stations with associated facilities such as parking, food truck area, and trails. The site currently has a 90’ diamond and two 60’ diamond fields with parking. The proposed uses serve a range of athletic and community recreation needs."
