The Fairfax County Park Authority is conducting a master planning process for the Ellanor C. Lawrence Park. Click here for more information. Master planning offers Auduboners and others the opportunity to argue for conservation and restoration, to shape the future of a park.
According to the park’s website, “Park circulation, site operational needs, access, natural resource management, history and archaeology will all be reviewed as part of the master plan revision. Site analysis will examine ways to encourage safe bike and pedestrian routes, to and within the park, while easing vehicular movements. Additional park land use and resource management issues and concerns identified by the public, park users and stakeholders will also be examined as part of the master plan process.”
On public involvement, the FCPA website says, “There is still time to contribute your ideas to the master planning process. A draft master plan revision is anticipated to be published in late winter or early spring 2017 and your input will help shape the draft plan. Please send any questions or comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.” If you want your views included in the final plan, weigh in soon.
