On January 10, 2018, the Fairfax County Environmental Quality Advisory Council (EQAC) will hold its annual public hearing at the Fairfax County Government Center, conference rooms 9 and 10, 7:30 p.m. You can find EQAC’s annual report here. EQAC presented it to the Board of Supervisors on November 21.
The report covers these topics: land use, transportation; water; waste management; parks and ecological resources; climate and energy; air quality; wildlife management; technology.
The January 10 hearing is an opportunity to give your recommendations to the county on topics like natural resources conservation, threats to birds and wildlife, pollution and other topics of your choosing. Speakers do not have to limit remarks to the report.
Staff encourages all interested parties to sign up to speak. To sign up, call the Department of Planning and Zoning at 703-324-1380 or send an e-mail message (and/or submit written testimony) to EQAC@fairfaxcounty.gov.
Speakers can present video testimony. You can upload video testimony, five minutes or less is preferred, to YouTube, Ustream or Vimeo and then let staff know how to access the video. Staff will present your video at the public hearing. The deadline for posting a video online is January 3, 4 p.m.
