The Advocacy Committee will meet on May 22. Among other topics, we will learn how local governments make decisions on parks and hear from Samantha Hudson, a Fairfax County Park Authority planning staffer. Creating parks with native plants and trees and restoring parks to natural conditions are two ways to provide habitat for birds and other wildlife in rapidly urbanizing Northern Virginia, but usually, officials have to be persuaded of the merit of these approaches.
The meeting will be at the Mason District Government Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA 22203 (small conference room). Directions can be found here.
Anyone is welcome to attend. It would be helpful if you would RSVP to Glenda Booth.
