Mary began her study in history and science. After an enjoyable stint doing it all with her children she turned to teaching children at every grade level in schools and parks about their connection to the natural world.
Mary has her M.A. in history and another M.A. in teaching English Language Students, Certification as a Master Naturalist and Certified Interpretive Guide. Mary currently leads natural science programs for Fairfax County and the Audubon Naturalist Society’s Rust Sanctuary in Leesburg.
Mary is the winner of the 2015 Bill Thomas Volunteer Award for her work in Arlington County's Tuckahoe Park.
