Approximately, 20 people joined instructor Larry Meade on May, 2 for an instructive class on Spring Warblers. The class focused on birds likely to be found in this area. Most are migrants on their way to points north, but some breed locally. The class was followed by a class field trip to Leesylvania State Park. The morning brought beautiful, sunny weather—only the second sunshine in two weeks. During the outing, the group spotted a total of 58 birds, including 14 warblers.
Warblers spotted were:
Black-and-white Warbler, Prothonotary Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Hooded Warbler, American Redstart, Cape May Warbler, Northern Parula, Magnolia Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler, Ovenbird.
